TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS AT THE MILL:
PEOPLE OF POZZALE
Town Picture Book
Several months ago the Regola of Pozzale and a number of volunteers asked residents to participate in an exhibition of the populis of Pozzale. An initiative parallel to that of the photographs displayed on the houses: People of the Mountains.
The reaction was met with progressive enthusiasm. There was a constant influx of photos, even in the days leading up to the event.
Beholding the selected fragments of history, emotions and memories are evoked in the observer; as well as questions past and present, regardless of the reason they were picked out. Photographs are important documents and an inescapable font for contemporary research into our past.
The images displayed in this exhibit seem to have been chosen especially in memory of the faces and of the people who were or still are part of those fragments. Upon close analysis they supply a great deal of information as well as elements for interpretation. Photographs are a testimony to the expression of emotion and affection.
The gathering of these images and the photos themselves, drew Pozzalini closer together and helped them to form a community through interaction and social exchange.
I RAGNI OF THE DOLOMITES
displayed in Pozzale
A photographic exhibition that tells the story of the Gruppo Rocciatori Ragni di Pieve e del Cadore, the new routes open, the successes on many Dolomite walls but above all the passion for the mountains that has made going to the mountains the raison d'être of entire generations of Cadore mountaineers.
The exhibition, set up at the former mill of Pozzale di Cadore, has been inaugurated on Sunday 1 August 2019 at 5 pm.
The photos tell a story that officially starts in 1945 but that has its roots in a much older mountaineering tradition made up of moments of great mountaineering, athletic gestures, authentic feats in severe, hostile, difficult environments.
The first shots portray intrepid women who climbed on a par with men who have consolidated the Cadore mountaineering practice. In proud evidence there are the photos of the Alpine Guides and those of the moments that precede and those taken after some authentic feats such as that of August 3, 1947 when the Spiders De Polo and Cortellazzo open a way all of 5 ° and 6 ° on the east wall of the Torre dei Sabbioni. A very hard road on which many had failed. On the same day another Spider, Gemolo Cimetta, known as Cif, falls on the Campanile Dimai. It is the true story of mountaineering made of joys and sorrows that dot the long experience of the group. The images of the many climbs on the Marmarole, on the Spalti di Toro and on the peaks that frame Cortina d'Ampezzo are united by the joyful, happy and euphoric faces of the protagonists.
This is one of the aspects that strike and generate sympathy of the entire exhibition: the enthusiasm of going to the mountains and the pride of being part of the Gruppo Rocciatori Ragni. Noble sentiments that also inspired the jury in awarding the Gruppo del Pelmo d'Oro 2004 edition with this motivation: "Singular and lasting example of authentic passion for the mountains in general and for the Cadore Dolomites in particular. Witness of solid and sincere friendship and generous spirit of Alpine solidarity."
